Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract

Lemon fruit extract can be used in hair care products to enhance body and shine. It contains proteins that nourish hair fibres, helping to promote maximum volume. It’s also rich in antioxidants such as vitamin C, which helps protect hair against free radical damage. 

Lemon contains various active compounds. Citric acid is the most representative organic acid, and flavanones are the most abundant flavonoids in lemon. 

Hesperidin and eriocitrin are mainly from lemon juice, while neoeriocitrin, neohesperidin, and naringin are from the peel. Rutin andmyricetin are the most abundant flavonols in lemon juice, while quercetin and kaempferol areboth in juice and peel. Lemon is also a rich source of carotenoids, β-cryptoxanthin as a principalcarotenoid. Due to those bioactive compounds, lemon shows various effects such as antioxidant, skin brightening, and anti-microbial activities.
